How to Braid Your Hair in 10 Different Ways
Braiding or plaiting your hair can be such an easy and versatile way to add some style and personality to your look. You can really get creative with it, creating a range of gorgeous hairstyles whether you’re planning for a special occasion or just want to add an interesting touch to your everyday style. With a few simple techniques and a bit of practice, you’ll be able to do beautiful braids like a pro.
Classic French Braid
The French braid is probably one of the oldest and most iconic braided styles out there, and it’s definitely still fashionable in 2020. Although mastering it might take a bit of time and practice, once you learn this classic styling technique, it becomes quite easy. To get started, make sure your hair is in a clean, middle part, and comb it out to remove any knots. Gather three sections of hair near your forehead, cross one section over the other, and then add more hair from the sides before crossing each over. Keep repeating these steps until you reach the ends of your hair.
Halo Braid
The halo braid is ideal for wedding days and special occasions, but can also give you a beautiful, stylish look for everyday wear. To create this stunning hairstyle, split your hair into two even sections and fasten each section with a hair tie. Then, using either side as your starting point, you can start braiding by crossing the small sections of hair, adding more as you braid around your head. When you reach the back, secure the end of your braid with a hair tie and wrap the braid around the nape of your neck.
Fishtail Braid
Another gorgeous braid is the fishtail, which has quite a more intricate look since it involves just two sections of hair instead of the traditional three used for most braids. To do this, start by gathering two strands of hair and divide them into two even sections. Using your pointer finger, pick up a very thin piece of hair on the outside of one section and pull it over to the other side and incorporate it into that section. Repeat this step with the opposite section, and keep alternating until you reach the end of your hair and secure with a hair tie.
Milkmaid Braid
Yet another lovely hairstyle you can do with braids is the milkmaid, which gives you a romantic, princess-like ‘do when you’re looking for something a bit more formal. To get this hairdo, begin by creating two braids on either side of your head (you can start these on the same side or from different sides). Once done, pull them slightly to loosen them up and cross them over the top of your head, bringing them together at the base of your neck and securing with a hair tie.
